Research Studies at CCSD

Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology has a collaborative research team to advance in the fields of cosmetic surgery and dermatology. Our Providers and research staff follow Good Clinical Practice guidelines as well as FDA regulations. Our practice wide standard of care is maintained during all research related matters. The study patient and their care is of the utmost importance.

In the few short years that we’ve begun work in research we have focused on cosmetic procedures including injectables and device trials for the treatment of a range of conditions including cellulite, treatment of active facial lines, and enhancement of the abdominal muscles in postpartum women.

Our studies include those that were investigator initiated, sponsor initiated and FDA monitored.

Dr. Carolyn Jacob

Medical Director and Co-director of Research and Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Jacob has over 20 years of research experience. She has performed clinical studies on excessive sweat reduction with miraDry technology, cellulite reduction treatments, and body shaping with High Frequency Electromagnetic Energy (HIFEM) Emsculpt treatments. Dr. Omer IbrahimDr. Omer Ibrahim

Co-director of Research and Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Ibrahim is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatology Society, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has over 6 years of cosmetic and dermatologic research and has participated in numerous research trials covering topics  from hair loss to innovative laser anti-aging treatments. He has also published over 50 scientific papers and presented at national and international meetings.

Brittany Rank, PA-CBrittany Rank, PA-C

Specializes in dermatologic and cosmetic care as part of the research team.
Brittany is also a member of the Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (ISDPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Brittany has 2 years of cosmetic research experience, has performed research for body shaping with High Frequency Electromagnetic Energy (HIFEM) and research for cellulite treatment.

Alejandra Rodas

Senior Clinical Research Coordinator
Alejandra joined CCSD from the Emergency Medicine Department at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She is from Chicago and has been in the field of research since 2017, most recently working on palliative and emergency medicine studies with approximately 300 subjects.

Christine Woods

Clinical Research Assistant
Christine studied English Education at Indiana University and has been with CCSD since September 2019. If you are participating in one of our research studies, you may see Christine at your appointment or speak with her on the phone.

Jonilda Mecollari

Clinical Research Assistant
Jonilda completed her undergraduate at UW Madison and post bachelors in medical science at Dominican. She joined CCSD's Research Department in 2021 but has been in the medical research field since 2018.

  • Verruca Wart Study – Start Date: TBD
  • Studies of all kinds are in the start up process and will be available to the public soon. Keep an eye out for email and website updates regarding new enrolling studies!

Research Studies Currently Enrolling:

  • PCA Peel Study for hyperpigmentation and photoaging. Women aged 35-60 with no facial cosmetic treatments in the last 3 months can enroll. 
  • Patient satisfaction study for CellFX devices to clear benign lesions.

Research Studies Fully Enrolled and Ongoing:

  • Investigational, non-invasive device treatment for tricep toning.
  • Tear Trough Study- filler to the under eye area to improve severe hollowness/volume loss.

  • New Neurotoxin treatment to the crow’s feet and frown lines.
