Sclerotherapy
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a simple office procedure which uses tiny amounts of a glycerin solution to reduce or eliminate the appearance of red and purple leg veins. Typical treatments take 20 minutes and patients are instructed to wear special stockings to help maximize results afterwards. Larger veins may require more than one treatment.
For small veins unresponsive to sclerotherapy, the Excel V Laser can be used. This laser device safely directs light to the target which minimizes the veins. Let our medical staff treat your leg veins and have you back in shorts for the summer. As with all treatments at CCSD, sclerotherapy is performed on men and women.
Some larger veings may need to be surgically treated. Our Providers will evaluate your type of leg veins and determine which treatment is right for you.
You can stand up and walk around immediately after the procedure. It’s important to move your legs to maximize results. Most people can return to normal activities immediately following the procedure however, you should avoid sun exposure in the treatment area for two weeks following sclerotherapy.
